The Career You Never Planned For: Reinvention, Grit, and the Courage to Keep Going

  • Amber Robinson | EVP of Sales & Marketing | KlariVis
  • You didn't plan for all of it: the pivot that caught you off guard, the role you took before you felt ready, the room you walked into wondering if you really belonged there. And yet — here you are. Most career paths in banking don't look the way anyone drew them up. They look like a series of decisions made with incomplete information, detours that turned into defining moments, and skills built in places you never expected to need them. The women who rise aren't the ones who had it figured out from the start. They're the ones who kept going anyway. This session is a candid, honest conversation about what reinvention actually feels like from the inside — the self-doubt, the pivots that required more courage than felt available, and the grit that makes the difference between plateauing and breaking through. If you've ever looked at your own career path and thought this is not what I planned, this talk is for you.

Building a Culture of Cyber Resilience: A Team Sport from Boardroom to Branch

  • Jessica Caballero | VP, Banking Strategy | DefenseStorm
  • Cyber resilience isn’t built by technology alone—it’s shaped by culture, reinforced through governance, and lived out in everyday behaviors. It’s a team sport that requires alignment across the entire institution. In this session, we’ll explore how leaders and teams can work together to build a culture where everyone plays a role in protecting the organization. We’ll connect strategy to execution—showing how governance sets expectations, how culture drives consistent security behaviors, and how simple, scalable habits strengthen resilience over time. Attendees will leave with practical ways to align people, processes, and emerging technologies—so cyber resilience becomes part of how the institution operates, not just a function it manages.

Additional Event Details

A cherished tradition of the California Bankers Association’s Women in Banking Forum is our Pay It Forward initiative. This year, we are proud to announce Sister League of San Diego as our beneficiary. Founded in 1942, Sister League of San Diego (SLSD) was initially organized to provide housing to women and their children who were separated from their husbands during WWII.

Since then, Sister League has continued to provide safe housing and supportive day programming to adult women affected by mental health issues, homelessness, trauma and domestic abuse – issues which unfortunately are prevalent in our San Diego community today. By providing a safe and supportive home, Sister League helps women become more confident and self-sufficient.
