The United States Department of Labor has just released new overtime exemption standards which will have a significant impact on the banking industry. The required annual salary has been dramatically increased to $47,476. The government has also refined some of the duties tests which also apply to these exemptions. The new federal standards become effective December 1, 2016.
These final regulations impact all community banks and will require organizations to update employee classifications.
