New Affirmative Action Obligations For Veterans & Disabled
On August 27, the U.S. Department of Labor issued new regulations which substantially increase affirmative action obligations for all banks with 50 or more employees.
Banks will now be required to gather additional information from applicants and employees, establish hiring goals for protected veterans and disabled individuals, increase recruitment and outreach efforts to these groups, and conduct enhanced statistical analyses in their Affirmative Action Plans. This presentation will offer practical guidance, including revised forms and logs, to enable banks to comply with the new standards as they are phased in.
This webinar teaches best practices for avoiding IRS penalties, and how to respond if your procedures don’t measure up. Topics include:
- How to offer new pre- and post-offer self-identification opportunities
- Establishing a “benchmark” for employment of protected veterans
- Setting disabled hiring goals
- New recruiting and outreach obligations
- Updating Affirmative Action Plan language
- Disseminating updated policies
- Effective dates for the new rules
This program is designed for community bankers charged with the human resource function, but will be of value to all bankers involved in managing employees as well as senior managers and bank counsel.
