Jim Lokey Honored as CBA’s Distinguished Banker of the Year

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The California Bankers Association, a division of the Western Bankers Association, today announced that Jim Lokey was honored as the CBA’s Distinguished Banker of the Year. Lokey was officially recognized at the WBA’s annual conference held last week.

“The California Bankers Association is honored to have presented this award to Jim,” said Simone Lagomarsino, president & CEO of the Western Bankers Association. “Jim’s impressive banking career has spanned more than four decades, and he has been deeply involved in and dedicated to our association for years, serving on many of our volunteer committees, including chairman of our board of directors in 2008. We are most appreciative of his service to the banking community and he is truly a deserving recipient of this award.”

For the past 16 years, CBA has honored a banker who personifies what it is to be a distinguished California banker – a banker who is dedicated to the industry and also serves as a leader within the association.

Lokey retired from banking in 2014 after serving the industry for more than 40 years. He currently serves on the board of directors for Community West Bank. Prior to his retirement, Jim was the chairman and CEO of Mission Community Bancorp (2010-2014); president of Rabobank, N.A. (2007-2009); president and CEO of Mid-State Bank & Trust (2000-2007); president and CEO of Downey Savings (1997-1998); and the executive vice president of First Interstate Bank/Wells Fargo Bank (1973-1996). Additionally, Jim served as chairman of the CBA from 2008-2009.

“I am humbled to be selected as the Distinguished Banker of the Year and to be inducted into this very prestigious club,” Lokey said. “It has been my privilege to be a commercial banker for my career and to serve our industry and the CBA in various capacities during that career. I have also had the honor to know all of the previous inductees and am honored to join their ranks.”
