SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Western Bankers Association (WBA) today announced that Eric Ellingsen, president and chief operating officer of California Bank & Trust (CB&T), will serve as the 2019-2020 chairman of the board of directors. Ellingsen was officially elected at the WBA’s annual conference held in March.
“It is an honor to serve the WBA in this important volunteer leadership role,” Ellingsen said. “I am looking forward to my upcoming year as WBA chairman, and continuing to be a positive advocate and voice for our industry, promoting the critically important role all banks play in the economic growth and vitality of our communities.”
Ellingsen, based in San Diego, has served as president and chief operating officer of California Bank & Trust since January 2016. Within CB&T, Ellingsen oversees the business and branch banking, which makes up more than 80 branches throughout the state, SBA lending, private banking, corporate services, and the bank’s finance and planning functions. Prior to his current role, Ellingsen was CB&T’s chief financial officer from 2012 to 2015 and was responsible for the overall financial management of the company. Prior to that, he served various management roles handling risk management, regulatory compliance, international banking, and asset/liability management.
“Continuing to support the association’s professional development programming is also a priority,” Ellingsen added. “Providing ongoing educational opportunities for our member bankers at all levels is a core mission of the WBA, as well as ensuring that we have the resources to attract, train and retain the next generation bank leaders.”
Ellingsen assumes the role of chairman from Debbie Skinner, EVP and chief administrative officer of Farmers & Merchants Bank of Central California.
