Instructor Led Online Courses are instructor-facilitated, internet-delivered versions of traditional AIB courses. Online Courses offer employees with busy professional and personal lives to access quality classes in a convenient manner. Students taking these Online Courses can apply those credits toward industry-recognized AIB Diplomas and Certificates.

There are over 20 titles available that will be delivered in more than 100 different sessions over the course of the year. ABA/AIB Instructor Led Online Courses are 5 to 16 weeks in length.

How They Work

Each AIB Instructor-Led Online Course is facilitated by an instructor who guides the class through the course and provide feedbacks on your assignments.

Every week, your instructor posts a new assignment.  Assignments may include:

• Reading a chapter in your textbook or online
• Completing a short assignment and either sending the assignment via email to your instructor or posting it on the electronic class Discussion Board
• Taking a self-check test to verify your understanding of the material

In addition, you also will have some assignments where you collaborate with other students using electronic discussion boards and e-mail. You complete each assignment during the week, but at your convenience.

Course Credits

Many of ABA’s online courses, self-paced as well as instructor-led, can be used toward one or more of AIB Diplomas and Certificates. They also qualify for a variety of continuing education units and meet some post-certification requirements. Check individual course descriptions for specific credits.

Diplomas and Certificates (AIB)

The American Institute of Banking (AIB) is a national organization devoted to the professional development of bankers. AIB Certificates and Diplomas verify that individuals have developed the skills needed in many specific job families within the financial services industry. These Certificates and Diplomas set the industry standard for qualifications and provide students with a roadmap for developing those qualifications.

AIB Diplomas were recently introduced in Bank Financial Management, Personal Banking, Personal Trust, and Retail Bank Management.

ICB Continuing Education Credit

The Institute of Certified Bankers (ICB) is a national association of certified professionals in the financial services industry. The ICB is a non-profit, independent corporation that is sponsored by the American Bankers Association (ABA). ICB is dedicated to promoting excellence and professionalism in all parts of the industry by helping professionals improve competency levels. Currently ICB offers certifications in nine specialty areas: personal trust, retirement services, securities operations, lending, regulatory compliance, financial services security, IRA services, and financial marketing.
