Safety & Soundness 2012
September 13, 2012 in Anaheim

Hear what the CA DFI, the OCC, the FRB & the FDIC have to say!

As we continue our banking industry recovery, bankers are challenged in new and interesting ways. Each banking crisis does bring enhancements to our model and as we begin to see an exit to this one, all of us are trying to introduce improvements in such areas as strategic planning, credit underwriting, auditing procedures, and ALCO to name a few.

As each crisis brings new lessons about risk management, each of us is challenged to find news ways to enhance our own risk management procedures. Our regulators are looking for these same answers as we all search to avoid another crisis in the future and we are pleased to have representatives from the FDIC, OCC, Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, and the CA Department of Financial Institutions share their experiences and guidance with our bankers again in 2012.

Throughout the day we will be focusing on the issue of “stress testing” and how each CAMELS topics are impacted by these tests. Between the best practices already in place by our participants and the enhancements our regulators are seeing, we expect to have a much better understanding of stress testing in today’s complex banking world.

The session will run from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with breakfast and registration beginning at 7:30 a.m. and lunch at noon.

We are also pleased to have a slightly different approach from our past Safety & Soundness Workshops. This year, our workshop will include team discussions by our bankers. These discussions will encompass the six CAMELS issues and our hope is to have each of our teams create a list of issues they view as most relevant in each of the CAMELS topics. Our morning and afternoon sessions will begin with a 30-minute session in which teams discuss and highlight their specific concerns, which will then be included in each of the CAMELS topics overviews.
