FDIC Compliance Examination Process & Consumer Protection Hot Topics/Best Practices

Don’t miss this opportunity to dialogue directly with FDIC regional directors, field supervisors, examiners and specialists on their expectations regarding compliance procedures and exams!

Join us for a day with the FDIC to hear about the examination process, and have the unique opportunity to take on the role of an examiner through a mock compliance examination where you’ll be responsible for actually assigning the Consumer Compliance Rating and making recommendations.

We will also discuss hot topics and best practices in the consumer protection arena. Examination staff will share information on a variety of hot topics, including fair lending, third-party oversight, overdraft payment programs, and Unfair or Deceptive Acts and Practices (UDAP).


The session will run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with breakfast and registration beginning at 8:00 a.m. and lunch at 11:30 a.m.

Case Study Introduction/Review

  • The FDIC managers will review the case study process, and everyone will receive their packet of information on the case study, including bank information and a partially completed Report of Examination to review and ask questions

Case Study Group Work

  • Table groups discuss the information from the two documents and complete the missing sections of the Report of Examination

Case Study Group Reports

  • Each team will report out their Findings & Recommendations, and get feedback from the examiners.
