Enterprise Risk Management 2012 – Northern California
Westin St. Francis in San Francisco

This seminar will address best practices for enterprise risk management and pre-examination preparation based on actual experiences in California and national markets.

Today the regulators are pushing banks to consider all risks and to create a strategic/capital plan based on increased capital standards.  This session, presented in collaboration with the International Bankers Association of California and the National Association of Chinese American Bankers, is intended to provide a one-stop workshop which will cover key aspects of identifying, managing and monitoring risks such as credit, compliance, liquidity, market, operational, ALLL and legal risks.

Enterprise risk management is a fairly new concept for many banks and not one that they can easily afford coming out of the recession. Industry observers fear many banks are ill-prepared for a new regulatory focus on old compliance policies, not to mention new policies coming in force. The number of rules, technical or otherwise, are subject to interpretation that bankers have to live with today is astronomical.

Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) is central to addressing safety and soundness and key Dodd-Frank requirements.  Experience shows that banks can create a competitive advantage and  maximize their value by properly implementing and maining ERM.  This principle applies to banks of all sizes but ERM must be tailored to fit each institution’s unique risk profile, size and complexity.  Compliance issues are now front and center under the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (“CFPB”) and bankers continue to question the timeframes for implementing Dodd-Frank, including board level risk committees, compensation, capital plans, compliance, etc.

The seminar will be held November 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with breakfast and registration beginning at 7:30 a.m. and lunch at noon.
