Fielded nearly a dozen incoming media inquiries, which focused on a wide range of issues including successors in interest and debtor exemptions.

Media interviews were conducted with the Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle, American Banker, the Sacramento and San Diego business journals, KQED and others.

Conducted two editorial board meetings with the Los Angeles Times (June 14) and Orange County Register (June 16). These meetings, led by Rod Brown and with participation from local CBA member bank leadership, are excellent opportunities for California’s industry leaders to interface with the editorial board staff (those who determine the direction of the newspaper’s opinion page) and discuss issues of concern to the industry and consumers, and communicate the positive role their bank plays in the local community. One additional editorial board meeting with the Sacramento Bee is scheduled for July 20.

Participated in a Stockton press conference with Senator Cathleen Galgiani, the author of CBA sponsored legislation, SB 907, which will extend important tax relief to homeowners who received a principal reduction from a loan modification, or completed a short sale during the 2014-2016 tax years. CBA members Karen Smith, SVP and regional manager at Central Valley Community Bank, and Kellie England, SVP and regional retail director at Umpqua Bank, spoke at the press conference and urged California to join Congress by acting on extending the important tax relief while emphasizing that borrowers should not have to be saddled with a state income tax bill on forgiven debt. The Stockton Record covered the story as well as ABC 10, the Central Valley Business Times and the Sierra Sun Times.

Issued a statement regarding CBA’s opposition to Senate Bill 1150, which creates numerous and substantive compliance issues for mortgage servicers and contains a provision allowing a private right of action.

Issued a press release announcing new 2016-2017 CBA chair, Louise Walker, president and CEO of First Northern Bank. Coverage appeared in American Banker and the Sacramento Business Journal.

Facilitated the release of our eighth California Banking Industry Intelligence report with Beacon Economics Report that examines important issues currently affecting California’s banks and the overall economy.

Tweeted more than 70 times to more than 1,050 followers on CBA’s Twitter social media profile to engage online with policymakers, members, the media and endorsed partners.

Worked closely with the events and education teams to design marketing materials to promote CBA events, conferences and seminars. Brochures and other collateral material were created for several events including CBA’s 125th Annual Convention and 49th Annual Bank Counsel Seminar, Risk, Cybersecurity and Technology Conference, Women in Banking Forum, BSA/AML seminar.

Assisted with several marketing campaigns to highlight new services or product offerings from existing endorsed partners including Key State, BancAlliance, Verafin and Insperity.
