California Legislature Adjourns for 2013
Shortly after midnight on September 13, the California Legislature adjourned for the 2013 legislative year. Many bills were passed during the final hours on to the governor’s desk and he now has 30 days to sign or veto those measures by the October 13 deadline.
The majority of the measures enacted will take effect on January 1, 2014, unless they contain an urgency clause or a tax levy which would make the law effective immediately. The Legislature will reconvene for the second year of the two-year session on January 6, 2014.We will continue to keep you informed of any actions from the governor’s office regarding measures of interest to CBA.
During the Legislature’s interim recess, CBA’s advocacy team will be preparing the 2013 Legislative and Regulatory Summary (Summary), which has been made possible in previous years by the generous support of our sponsors.
