Provided detailed analysis of 47 measures to CBA policy committees and adopted positions on 37 measures to date.
Sponsored the introduction of three measures:
- Assembly Bill 99 (Perea) relative to tax conformity on mortgage debt forgiveness
- AB 1037 (Wagner) relative to trust proceedings
- AB 283 (Dababneh) relative to local agency deposits
Presented testimony on behalf of the industry at the Assembly Committee on Banking and Financial Institutions informational hearing on Innovation and Transformation in Payments Technology
Generated three issue briefs, including a fact sheet detailing quarterly banking statistics.
Participated in 108 meetings with state legislators and state agency departments.
Participated in a franchise tax board regulatory meeting on proposed financial services taxation regulations dealing with broker-dealer receipts.
Conducted 22 internal policy committee meetings.
Provided a legislative briefing at the CBA Annual Lenders Conference.
Hosted a banking community event for Assembly Member Matt Dababneh.
CBA members participated in a Sacramento event for House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy and two federal district fundraisers.
Conducted three state legislative grassroots meetings attended by CBA members.
Participated in 23 Sacramento fundraisers for members of the state legislature and conducted one meeting with a state legislative candidate.
CBA members participated in the ABA’s Freshmen Fly-In in Washington, D.C. and conducted seven meetings with members of the California delegation and their senior staff, including Rep. Maxine Waters, ranking member of the House Financial Services Committee. Key legislative issues addressed included eliminating the outdated credit union tax exemption, data breach and data security, abolishment of the Farm Credit System’s tax subsidy and mortgage regulation relief.
CBA members participated in the ABA’s Government Relations Summit in Washington, D.C. As part of the Summit program, our members conducted five meetings with members of California congressional delegation and their senior staff, including House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s senior policy advisor and Rep. Mimi Walters, Freshman Representative to House Leadership. Key legislative issued discussed included bank examination reform, equal tax treatment for credit unions, data breach and data security, farm credit system and tax reform, portfolio lending, regulatory relief for community banks and tailored regulation.
Participated in the ABA’s monthly grassroots conference calls, which includes a briefing and strategy related to current congressional issues affecting the banking industry.
Raised more than $53,000 for the CBA Federal PAC by conducting live/silent auctions during Bank Presidents Seminar.
Raised $123,687 (65 percent of goal) for the CBA State PAC and $77,934 (72 percent of ABA goal) for the CBA Federal PAC.
