Are you looking to earn the Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA) certification? The ABA CTFA Boot Camp was developed with you in mind. This time-saving exam prep program provides face-to-face instruction facilitated by leading industry experts to help you prepare to sit for the CTFA exam. The CTFA exam will be offered directly after the Boot Camp so you can take the exam with the study preparation fresh on your mind.

Pairing ABA’s deep trust expertise and resources with a faculty of expert instructors, the ABA CTFA Boot Camp is designed with one goal in mind – to thoroughly prepare candidates to sit for the CTFA exam required for the prestigious Certified Financial Advisor Manager designation.

  • You have the option to immediately sit for the CTFA exam on November 6, 2015 at the end of the program.

CTFA Exam (Optional)

Attendees have the option to sit for the CTFA exam immediately upon completion of the CTFA Boot Camp, on November 6, 2015. Learn more about the eligibility requirements and more.

Those wishing to take the exam on November 6, 2015 must submit their CTFA application by September 3, 2015. An additional CTFA Application/Exam fee of $625 applies, and is in addition to the CTFA Boot Camp registration.

Late CTFA exam applications will not be accepted. Applications received after September 3, 2015 will be held for the next scheduled PSI Testing Center exam administration or at a future predetermined ABA Trust School or Conference site.

Faculty

Rich Campbell
Partner, Mayer Brown
Richard Campbell is a partner in Mayer Brown’s Chicago office and leads the Wealth Management practice. He focuses on estate planning for high net worth clients, probate and trust administration law, and contested estate and trust matters. He also emphasizes representation of not-for-profit organizations and private foundations, and represents closely held businesses. Richard has advised clients on sophisticated estate tax planning techniques, including GRATs, QPRTs, family limited partnerships, sales to defective grantor trusts, generation-skipping tax and dynasty trust planning, charitable remainder trusts, and insurance trusts. Richard is a frequent lecturer to estate planning professionals and to the general public on estate planning matters, estate administration, contested estate matters, and ownership succession issues. He has presented before the RMS McGladrey National Tax Conference, the Chicago-Kent Federal Tax Institute, the Illinois State Bar Association, the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education, the Chicago Bar Association, the Chicago Estate Planning Council, and the American Bankers Association.

Ron Florance, CFA
Investment Consultant
Ron Florance is a private investment consultant and financial educator with over 30 years of experience in the investment field. His most recent position was Deputy Chief Investment Officer at Wells Fargo Private Bank, where he was responsible for developing key investment strategy guidance for high-net-worth individuals, families and philanthropic entities. His prior corporate experience included roles at The Vanguard Group, Wells Fargo Nikko Investment Advisors, and The Private Bank at Bank of America.

Ron’s expertise includes Global Asset Allocation, Equity Research, Fixed Income Research and portfolio design and management. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics and Economics from Brown University and was awarded a Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 1995. Ron is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and is quoted nationally and internationally both in print and broadcast media. Ron meets with individuals, foundations, and endowments to evaluate investment needs and strategies.

Steve Goodman
Owner and President, TrainWorks
Steve Goodman is owner and president of TrainWorks, the leading provider of customized, independent training in wealth management, financial planning, customer service, and business ethics. Currently, Steve serves as one of the lead instructors for the American Bankers Association’s in-bank training programs and is on the faculty of the Pacific Coast Banking School in Seattle, where he teaches financial planning and investment concepts and has been named one of the top three instructors for four years in a row.

Steve is also on the faculty of the Southeastern School of Banking, where he has taught sales and transfer tax concepts to non-trust personnel for the past 17 years. In addition to training, Steve writes a quarterly Newsletter that addresses the latest financial and legal developments that banks and investment firms use to educate affluent clients and market to prospects and referral sources.

David Llewllyn
Senior Vice President and Senior Fiduciary Offer, The NortherN Trust Company
David M. Llewellyn is a Senior Vice President and Senior Fiduciary Officer at The Northern Trust Company in Miami, Florida. In addition to managing a wide range of complex fiduciary relationships, David chairs Northern Trust’s East Region Trust Acceptance Committee, while also serving on various regional and national fiduciary decision making committees. In his 18-year Northern Trust career David has worked in both trust and estate administration, as well as various management positions.
David began his career at SunTrust Bank in Miami where, in 1991, he entered their Management Training Program. He ultimately became a Trust Administrator managing a variety of trust relationships before leaving to join Northern Trust in 1997.

David received a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Brigham Young University, a Master of International Business Studies from the University of South Carolina and a Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law. He has been involved with the Boy Scouts of America and served in local troop and Council leadership positions. David is a Trust School Advisory Board Member for the American Bankers Association and a Corporate Trustee Representative for the Jessie Ball duPont Fund in Jacksonville.

Arrival and Departure Dates: please note, the Boot Camp begins on November 2nd at 8:30 a.m and ends on November 5th at 5 p.m.. If you are not sitting for the CTFA exam on November 6, 2015, you may depart at the end of the Program on November 5th.

All changes in arrival, departure, type of accommodations or cancellation must be made by October 9, 2015, directly with the hotel, either in writing or by telephone: 1-877-622-3056. You may be billed for late arrival or early departure. Should you cancel your reservation, the deposit will be refunded if notice is received at least 24 hours prior to arrival or a cancellation fee equal to one night’s room and tax will be charged to the credit card on file. A cancellation number is obtained through the hotel. Please check with the hotel for its complete cancellation policy.
