February is National Financial Aid Awareness Month!
The focus of Financial Aid Awareness Month is to educate and inform high school students and their families that college is attainable and that there are numerous sources of financial aid available. Below are a few ideas on how you can work with your community to promote financial aid awareness month.
1. Learn with Technology. Encourage your sponsored schools to complete Module 6 of the EverFi™ learning platform (Financing Higher Education). It contains dozens of interactive lessons on FAFSA, private vs. federal loans, Pell grants, and other topics.
2. Tweet About It. Below are a few tweets you could push out in February:
- [Bank] is celebrating Financial Aid Awareness Month by educating students on #FAFSA and financing higher education. #[Bank]FinancialScholars
- Think you’re ineligible for financial aid? Many scholarships/grants are available based on merit and other factors but require a #FAFSA.
- Are your kids heading to college next year? Now is the time to complete a FAFSA! #FinancialAidAwarenessMonth
3. Promote Your Financial Aid Resources. Connect consumers with your bank’s resources and services for financing higher education. Consider adding this information to your bank’s homepage during the month of February.
